• aluminum or PVC frames;

    In this article we will try to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of aluminum frames and PVC frames. Many ask us what are the best frames, aluminum frames or Pvc frames. How ecological are these materials and what constructions can we make for the balcony doors and windows of our house. Are plastic windows yellowing? Can we make recessed balcony doors, shutters or shutters? Truths and myths about the two materials for making frames and comparison in aluminum or PVC frames.

    Pvc Frames - Plastic Frames

    aluminum or PVC frames

    Pvc - plastic frames consist of polyvinyl chloride material, which is a composition of ( κουφωματα αλουμινιου αθηνα )ethylene (found in 43% oil), chlorine and some other substances, which with the addition of oxygen and their polymerization, becomes PVC. This material has been banned for the manufacture of several everyday items, such as children's toys, bottles, furniture, in most countries, while a relevant directive has been issued by Greenpeace Greece in relation to the construction of frames but also recently Greenpeace USA

    PVC doors and windows are therefore made of synthetic materials, to which steel is added, in the center of the frame and the sheet of the window, in order to gain stability and eliminate distortions. The absence of steel or the use of other lower quality materials, which is a common tactic for cost reasons, can cause major problems in the most static of the window and it is advisable to ask for certification in case of problems. Note that steel does not appear, it is not visible, when the frames are delivered and the companies in Greece usually buy, from abroad, only the profile from Pvc, without the internal reinforcement, which they add later in our country. So let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of PVC frames in relation to aluminum frames for the construction of frames (doors and windows).

    Advantages

    They are economical because they are made of plastic materials.

    They have better thermal insulation properties.

    They have no joints because they are joined by heat-bonding.

    Disadvantages

    They cannot be made with plastic frames - pvc, sliding recessed frames and simple superimposed frames with screens. All PVC frames are imported (from Bulgaria, Austria, Germany) and in these countries no recessed frames are manufactured. In most cases, where you will find recessed frames from Pvc, they are Greek patents of poor quality and it is interesting to ask for their certificates.

    There are several cases of lesions, yellowing and bloating, due to their exposure to increased sunshine. This problem occurs with low quality PVC. The countries importing the raw material are usually countries with little sunshine in contrast to Greece.

    There is difficulty in making covers, ie shutters and PVC shutters. This is because in the countries where they are manufactured (Germany, Austria, Bulgaria) it is not customary to place covers. PVC shutters can be made in very small dimensions, with dubious quality and above all safety. The same is true of PVC shutters, which lack insulation inside their boxes, as is the case with heat-shrinkable aluminum boxes. Before you decide to buy shutters or shutters from Pvc (plastic) it is good to see some real works. In many cases of shutters, companies now suggest installing aluminum shutters.
